Relaxing prior to Wauseon

The Sauder Village and campground is awesome! It is the perfect location to prepare for the 2021 AMCA National Meet in Wauseon, OH. Eva and I woke up early to catch the sunrise above Sauder’s Little Lake Erie. We hiked around the trail to find some beautiful horses and glimpses of rabbits dashing across the trail ahead of us. It Was time to visit the Sauder bakery and coffee shop for our morning fix. We also purchased a freshly baked loaf of whole wheat bread and a pound of the famous chicken salad for lunch. Back at camp it was time to do a little maintenance on the Servi car as I am still running hot wired to the coil. After lunch we decided to take another of the numerous hiking trails around the complex. We chose to take the wetlands trail which was full of flowers, lakes and a walnut tree grove. While in the grove Eva spotted a Fox Squirrel. I haven’t seen one of these since I was a kid hunting with Pop. I watched the big brownish-red squirrel for several minutes as he tried to avoid me while never letting go of the walnut he was carrying. We made it back to camp as some of my SMC friends arrived. First it was Erik Bahl and then shortly thereafter SMC President Mike McCloud arrived along with Tommy Harper and Mike Lyle. Things got very entertaining at that point. Erik stayed in the campground while the others checked into the Hotel. There was some disappointment from Tommy when he was advised that there would be no cut-off shorts allowed in the pool. We had a great time of fellowship around the camp and we called it a night as everyone headed back for a good nights sleep.
